Do not be afraid of lace knitting!!  You just have to be slightly more organized with your notes and use a lifeline. (more on that in a minute)  Don’t be afraid of charts, either.  You can make a photocopy (just for yourself, it’s ok) and enlarge it so it’s easier to read.  You can also hilight along the way or make notes without marking up the original pattern.  I recommend using a sticky note under the row you’re working on to help keep your place.  There are also chart holders you can purchase that, well, hold your chart for you.

A lifeline is either a piece of waste yarn or dental floss that you run through stitches that are still “live”.   (Use a tapestry needle to thread it through the stitches while they are still on the needle.)  This way when you frog* (and get ready, everybody does) the lifeline stops the yarn from unravelling past that row.  Which rows you put a lifeline into is up to you.  Usually the most helpful is through the first row of the pattern repeat.  (*frogging just means unravelling your work back to a certain point)

Remember, frogging is your friend.   Just get started, be patient, get into a rhythm, and before you know it, success!
