Found a neat-looking blog I thought I’d try, “Friday Fill-Ins“.  Every Friday there is a list of a few items with blanks to fill in.  Apparently you copy and paste to your own blog and fill in the blanks for your readers. Kind of like some of those emails you get from friends.  If you want to play along, leave me a comment so I know to check your blog (and a link to your blog)….I’d love to see!!  Ok, here goes:

1. Right now, I’m feeling sleepy.
2. Right here at home is where I want to be.
3. How does one learn to enjoy cooking and/or cleaning?
4. A day-planner calendar keeps me on track.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to knitting, tomorrow my plans include lots of college football-watching and Sunday, I want to enjoy some cooler weather!

I hate how the Christmas socks turned out.  Don’t EVEN want to look at them long enough to snap a picture right now.  Don’t want anything to do with them.  Well, I say “them” but it’s only one.  And THAT one is LUCKY I haven’t thrown it into a fish tank full of piranha’s.

 Ah, the pattern writing process.  Fun most of the time but there are now 2 on the back burner because I can’t stand looking at them.  Good thing there lots of projects in progress at any given time.

So I’m getting the hang of turning the the new camera right-side around but now I keep taking videos when I want to take pictures.  I love my camera phone and it’s supposed to take good pictures, I just need the company to make a companion “for dummies” booklet to the user’s guide.  I’m determined to not let that thing get the better of me.  Stay tuned for some AWESOME pictures….

Unfortunately, knitting-related activities have taken a back seat to hurricane season.  We live in an area affected by hurricane Ike but far enough away that we don’t have the flooding from the storm surges.  We have been blessed to have our power back on after being off for only a matter of hours.  So many friends and family aren’t so lucky.  We were able to bring my elderly grandparents over here until their power came back on.   The power company and other emergency responders are doing a fantastic job of restoring as much of the millions of customers’ power as they can as quickly as they can.  They were poised and ready before the storm made landfall.  In fact, our power went out and was restored before the rain even came.  It went out again in the midst of the worst part of the storm and was restored again the next day. 

I’m kind of a mother-hen type and have spent time checking in on friends and family who don’t have power yet.  So knitting isn’t getting done nor other knitting-related activities.  Thank you to any readers who are bearing with me.  I hope to post more on knitting soon and hope you will check back again soon.

Thank the good Lord Gustav wasn’t as bad as it was forcast to be.  Seems that New Orleans’ levees held up well to the rain and storm surges.  Evacuation seemed to go well also.  Better safe than sorry, so thankful it wasn’t another disaster.

Knitting is still on the back burner.  Dang day job and all.  The little time I have had I played around with some polymer clay and made some beads.  Football beads of course.  I need to take some pics and post but need to get them finished first.  Work for the day job is screaming at me tho.  Maybe later tonight there will be some fun crafting time.

Wow, it’s been awhile since posting last.  Sorry about that to any readers who have happened by.  The Kid started high school and seems like I’ve had more homework than anyone else around here.  Extracurricular activities have kept us all busy around here, too.  A little knitting has been squeezed in but not much to speak of.  Am working on a sock pattern with a  Christmas theme, hopefully it will be finished soon.  The dust is settling some and hopefully the needles will be clicking wildly again.

We live near the Gulf Coast and have been watching hurricane Gustav very closely.  Very concerned for those in its path but thankfully it won’t be coming our way.    Ready for nasty weather but not near like what the Louisiana coast area is preparing for.  We’ve seen literally hundreds of empty coach busses pass through in that direction as well as ambulances and military vehicles.  Surreal to witness but at the same time comforting to see help on its way.  Praying that it will somehow lose steam before landfall…
